Silkeborg Kommune is a Danish municipality in Jutland . It was created on January 1, 2007 in the course of the local government reform by merging the “old” Silkeborg municipality with the previous municipalities of Gjern and Them in the Århus office and the Kjellerup municipality in the Viborg office .
Silkeborg Municipality has a total population of 94,026 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and an area of 850.30 km². It is part of the Midtjylland region . The seat of the administration is in Silkeborg .
