Until December 2006, Silkeborg Municipality was a Danish municipality in what was then the Århus Office in Jutland . Since January 2007 it has been part of the new Silkeborg Municipality, together with the Gjern Municipality , the Kjellerup Municipality and the Them Municipality .
Silkeborg Municipality was formed as part of the administrative reform of 1970 and comprised the following sogn :
