Until December 2006, Skanderborg Municipality was a Danish municipality in what was then Århus Office in Jutland . Since January 2007 it has formed the new Skanderborg municipality together with the municipalities of Galten , Hørning and Ry , as well as part of the parish of Voerladegård .

Skanderborg Municipality was newly formed as part of the administrative reform of 1970 and comprised the following Sogn :

• Ovsted Sogn
• Skanderborg Slotssogn
• Skanderup Sogn
• Stilling Sogn
• Tåning Sogn
• Vitved Sogn
