Sønderhald Kommune was until December 2006 a Danish municipality on the Djursland peninsula in eastern Jutland in what was then the Århus Office .
Sønderhald Municipality was established in the course of the administrative reform of 1970 and comprised the following Sogn :
- Fausing Sogn and Auning Sogn (rural community Fausing-Auning )
- Øster Alling Sogn and Vester Alling Sogn (rural municipality Øster Alling-Vester Alling )
- Virring Sogn and Essenbæk Sogn (rural municipality Virring-Essenbæk )
- Årslev Sogn and Hørning Sogn (rural municipality of Nørre Årslev-Hørning )
On January 1, 2007, the municipality was dissolved. The western portion (Essenbæk, Horning, Virring and Årslev Sogn) was greater community Randers slammed, while the eastern part (Auning, Fausing, Vester Alling and Easter Alling Sogn) forms with the Grenaa Municipality , the nørre djurs municipality and the Rougsø Municipality to Norddjurs municipality was merged.
