Ans is a smaller town with around 1900 inhabitants in the Midtjylland region of Denmark. Ans lies in the municipality of Grønbæk (Danish: Grønbæk Sogn ) and belongs to the municipality of Silkeborg . It is the largest city on the southern side of Lake Tange . The city is on Primærrute 26 , the main road between Viborg and Aarhus . From Ans it is 8 kilometers to Rødkærsbro , 10 km to Bjerringbro , 17 km to Silkeborg and 21 km to the regional capital Viborg. From 1970 to 2006 the city of Ans belonged to the Kjellerup municipality in the Viborg office .

The city has its own church (Danish: Ans Kirke). There are many shopping opportunities in Ans: several supermarkets, shops for household goods, florists, gardeners, hardware stores, furniture dealers and hairdressers. In Ans at Teglgade 20 there is a Folkeskole (Danish: Ans Skole) with around 500 students in grades 0 - 9.

Tange Sø Folk Festival

In Ans, the annual Tange Sø Folk Festival takes place in August right by the lake. The main focus of the music styles on offer is Scottish and Irish folk music . Well-known Danish bands with a folk influence, such as Tørfisk or De Gyldne Løver, are also invited.
