Parish history

The parish area originally belonged to the large parish Schöndorf . In 1732 the Passau bishop set up a local chaplaincy , with which a priest lived in Regau. In the course of the Josephine reforms , Regau became an independent parish in 1784. The parish is incorporated into the Augustinian Canon Monastery of St. Florian , which also sends the priests to Regau. When the parish of Maria Puchheim was founded in 1968 , the parish of Regau had to cede areas to it. In addition to the parish church, there is also the St. Vitus branch church in Oberregau.
