The Danish municipality of Struer on the Limfjord in northwest Jutland has a total population of 21,036 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and an area of 246.20 km². It lies in the administrative region of Midtjylland .
The municipal area includes the main town of Struer, the Thyholm peninsula and the islands of Jegindø and Venø . The combined road and rail bridge Oddesundbroen connects Struer northwards with Thyholm and Thy .
The municipality was created on January 1, 2007 as part of the local government reform through the merger of the two smaller municipalities Struer and Thyholm in the Ringkjøbing office . On December 3, 2015, a referendum took place on the merger of Struer with the larger neighboring municipality of Holstebro : In Holstebro 54.8 percent rejected a merger, in Struer 67.9 percent.
