Struer is a small town with 10,303 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Jutland in western Denmark , on the Limfjord .

Economy and Infrastructure

The city's most important industrial company and largest employer is the electronics group Bang & Olufsen . The manufacturer Struer, known for its wooden sea kayaks and racing kayaks, is also located here . In addition, Struer also lives from tourism. It has the largest marina on the Limfjord with 500 berths.

Struer is on Primærrute 11, which connects Sæd with Aalborg on the German-Danish border . The closest connection to the Danish motorway system (Motorvejen) is in Holstebro .

Attractions

Museums

The city museum is located in the Torngaard , the oldest building in the city. In the past this house served as a leasehold, trading house and parsonage. Today it shows, among other things, the history of the Bang & Olufsen company, whose roots are in the city, as well as of the local craft and trade.

The house of the writer Johannes Buchholtz , who lived in Struer since 1902 and was one of the most successful writers in Denmark at the time, can be visited at Søndergade 23.

Attractions in the area

Toftum Bjerge : With a coastline of 15 km, this landscape north of Struer, with the characteristic steep slopes leading to the Limfjord, is a popular recreational area.

Kilen , formerly a branch of the Limfjord, was placed under nature protection in 1952 and is now a bird sanctuary that is well worth seeing.
