Holstebro Kommune is a Danish municipality in Jutland . It has a total population of 58,591 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and an area of 793.00 km². It lies in the administrative region of Midtjylland . The administration is based in Holstebro .
The municipality was created on January 1, 2007 in the course of the local government reform by merging three smaller municipalities in the Ringkjøbing office : Holstebro , Ulfborg-Vemb and Vinderup .
On December 3, 2015, a referendum took place on the merger with the smaller neighboring municipality of Struer : In Holstebro, 54.8 percent rejected a merger, in Struer 67.9 percent.

Insofar as Sogne were divided or merged, this only relates to ecclesiastical concerns. In its capacity as Matrikelsogne , i.e. as land register districts of the cadastral authority Geodatastyrelsen , such changes have not had any effect since the abolition of the Harden structure in 1970.
