Marija Ivanovna Konovalova ( Russian Мария Ивановна Коновалова , English transcription Mariya Konovalova , née Пантюхова - Pantjuchowa - Pantyukhova ; born August 14, 1974 in Angarsk ) is a former Russian long-distance runner .

Life

In 2006 she was runner-up in the European cross-country championship . At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, she finished eleventh in the 5000 meter run .

In 2008 she achieved a huge breakthrough at the Russian Championships when she was third in 14: 38.09 min over 5000 m and second in 30: 59.35 min over 10,000 m .

At the Olympic Games in Beijing , she then started over 10,000 m and finished fifth with another personal record of 30: 35.84 minutes.

The following year she was eleventh over 10,000 m at the World Championships in Berlin , and at the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona she was fifth over 5000 m.

In her debut over the 42.195 km distance she came in 16th place in the 2010 London Marathon . In the fall, she improved by more than eleven minutes and finished third in the 2010 Chicago Marathon .

On November 5, 2015, it became known that she had been banned from the Russian Athletics Federation for two years due to irregularities in her biological passport. In addition, all results since August 14, 2009 have been deleted.

Marija Konovalova is 1.78 m and weighs 62 kg. She lives in Moscow and starts for the Russian Army Club.
