Geodatastyrelsen

Geodatastyrelsen ( German  geodata authority ) is a Danish cadastral authority . Around 300 people are employed at the headquarters in the north-west of Copenhagen . The authority has been subordinate to the Ministry of Energy, Supply and Climate since 2015 .

The area of ​​responsibility includes the cadastral surveying of Denmark, the Faroe Islands , Greenland and the surrounding waters, the preparation of sea and topographical maps and the management of real estate maps for these areas.

The authority was created on January 1, 1989 as Kort & Matrikelstyrelsen (KMS for short; German map & cadastral authority ) through the amalgamation of the three institutions Geodætisk Institut ( Geodetic Institute), Søkortarkivet (sea chart archive ) and the Matrikeldirektoratet (land registry), which at that time was still subordinate to the City and Housing Ministry ( By- og Boligministeriet ) . In 2001 the facility was assigned to the Ministry of the Environment with the formation of the Anders Fogh Rasmussen I government . At the beginning of 2013 the authority was renamed Geodatastyrelsen by law . The Danish armed forces are the largest customers for the services offered .
