The Danske Encyklopædi store
The Store Danske Encyklopædi ( The Great Danish Encyclopedia ) is the most comprehensive contemporary printed encyclopedia in Danish with a total of 23 volumes . It consists of the 20 volumes published between 1994 and 2001, an appendix published in 2002 and two index lists and contains 115,000 articles. The encyclopedia was created by 4,000 academic staff and claims to be a Danish national encyclopedia .
The volumes were published by Danmarks Nationalleksikon A / S , which was founded as a subsidiary of the Gyldendal publishing house for this purpose only. This was based on the Swedish National Cyclopedin when creating it . A total of 35,000 units were sold. In 2004 the work was released on CD-ROM , initially only in a version for Microsoft Windows , a version for Mac OS was brought onto the market in 2005.
The encyclopedia has been available online as Den Store Danske since February 2009 . It is based on Wiki software and can be used free of charge. The articles already contained in the original encyclopedia may be used freely for non-commercial use; users can also create and update new articles. All contributions are checked by an editorial team, supported by external experts, and changed if necessary in order to ensure a high professional level in all articles.
In 2011–2014, Den Store Danske was expanded to include ten half-timbered houses. a. Dansk biografisk leksikon , Danmarkshistorien und Naturen i Danmark . The Danske store contained around 196,500 articles in the summer of 2015 and is therefore somewhat smaller than the competing online lexicon, the content of which is under free licenses , compared to the Danish-language Wikipedia with around 208,000 articles (as of August 10, 2015) .
The denstoredanske.dk lexicon was discontinued on August 24, 2017. The reason for this was the insufficient financial basis for the work and a deficit that had developed for several years.
