Ringkøbing Amt was an administrative district ( Danish amt ) in Denmark until 1970 . It was created in 1794 by merging Lundenæs Amt and Bøvling Amt (with the exception of Harde Øster Horne Herred , which came to Ribe Amt ). Thyborøn only moved from Thisted Amt to Ringkøbing Amt in 1954 .

The main town was Ringkøbing .

Until the municipal reform in 1970, Ringkøbing Amt was the largest administrative district in terms of area. The office consisted of nine Harden:

In 1970 the administrative districts were replaced by municipal authorities: Except for smaller areas, Ringkøbing Amt was the same as Ringkjøbing Amt (until 2006).
