Ribe Office (before 1970)
Ribe Office (named after the city of Ribe ) was one of the offices in Denmark at that time until the Danish municipal reform on April 1, 1970 . It was created in 1793 from the previous Riberhus office . The office covered areas of several medieval Syssel : Vardesyssel , Jellingsyssel , Almindsyssel , Barvidsyssel and Ellumsyssel .
Most of the Ribe Amt belonged to the Duchy of Schleswig until the German-Danish War in 1864 , but following the war there was an exchange of land for the royal enclaves acquired by Queen Margaret I in the Middle Ages . Denmark renounced the enclaves (except Ribe), and could instead keep Ribe Herred , Nørre Tyrstrup Herred (until then Haderslev Amt , then Vejle Amt ) and the island of Ærø ( Ærø Herred , until then Nordborg Amt , then Svendborg Amt ).
Ribe Amt consisted of eight Harden ( Danish : Herred ):
- For herred
- Gørding Herred
- Paint Herred
- Ribe Herred
- Skast Herred
- Slavs Herred
- Vester Horne Herred
- Øster Horne Herred
The following cities were in office (Danish: Købstad ):
With the local reform in 1970, six parishes of the Harde Anst were added to the Vejle Office :
- Seest Sogn became part of the Kolding_Kommune
- Hjarup Sogn and
- Vamdrup Sogn became part of the Vamdrup municipality
- Jordrup Sogn ,
- Lejrskov Sogn and
- Skanderup Sogn formed the Lunderskov Commune
At the same time the parishes were
- Hviding Sogn ,
- Roager Sogn and
- Spandet Sogn from Harde Hviding Herred in Tønder Amt was added to the “new” Ribe Amt .
