Nordborg Office
Nordborg Amt was an office in the eastern part of the Duchy of Schleswig until the Prussian occupation in 1864. In many respects, however, the office functioned as part of the Sønderborg Amt . Nordborg Amt comprised the northern part of the island of Als ( German : Alsen ) and the entire island of Ærø with the following administrative units:
- die Harde Als Nørre Herred and
- the spots Nordborg on the island of Als, and
- die Harde Ærø Herred and
- the town of Ærøskøbing on the island of Ærø
After the peace treaty in 1864 , the office was divided: the island of Ærø was transferred from the Duchy of Schleswig to the Kingdom of Denmark and added to the Svendborg office . The rest of the office, so the Harde Als Nørre Herred and the area Nordborg were combined with the Sønderborg office to form Sønderborg County .
