Skanderborg Amt (named after the city of Skanderborg ) was one of the offices in Denmark at that time until the Danish municipal reform on April 1, 1970 . It was created in 1662 and was added to the Aarhus Office in the course of the first reform in 1793 . In 1799 Harde ( Danish : Herred ) Nim Herred was transferred from Vejle Amt , and in 1822 Harde Vrads Herred from Ringkøbing Amt to Århus Amt. In 1824, both Harden became part of the Skanderborg Amt, which was again established as an independent office, in addition to the original administrative area. From 1867 to 1942 the office was once again part of the Århus office.

Skanderborg Amt thus consisted of six Harden:

With the municipal reform in 1970, Skanderborg Amt was split between Vejle Amt and Århus Amt .

From the southern part of Skanderborg Amt, the following five municipalities emerged in Vejle Amt:
