Horsens Municipality is a Danish municipality in Jutland . It was created on January 1, 2007 in the course of local government reform by merging the "old" Horsens municipality with the previous municipalities Gedved and Brædstrup (excluding the eastern part of Voerladegård Sogn , which Skanderborg municipality joined) in Vejle Amt .

Horsens municipality has a total population of 90,966 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and an area of ​​519.40 km². It is part of the Midtjylland region . The seat of the administration is in Horsens .

In the municipality is the 170.77 m high Yding Skovhøj , the second highest point in Denmark , in close proximity to Møllehøj (170.86 m) and Ejer Bavnehøj (170.35 m), both of which are in the neighboring municipality of Skanderborg .
