Johnny Mølby

Johnny Mølby (born February 4, 1969 in Kolding ) is a Danish football coach and former football player .

Mølby comes from Vamdrup IF's youth ; He came to Vejle BK via Kolding IF , where he made his first team debut on February 17, 1987, a few days after his 18th birthday. He played in Vejle until the end of 1991 and moved abroad during the winter break; Mølby signed with the French FC Nantes , which at the time was a top division and top club. In the 1992/93 season he was under contract with Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach . There he completed eleven league and two cup games in the first half of the season. In the second half of the season he came only three times, in the first half of 1993 two more times in league and cup and finally moved to Belgium for KV Mechelen , for which he played 44 league games by the end of 1995 .

After returning to the Danish league , he made his first of 30 league games for Aalborg BK on November 10, 1995 ; In 1997 he moved to league rivals Aarhus GF , for whom he played a further 63 games by the end of the 1999/2000 season. On July 1, 2000 he went to third division Kolding IF as a player- coach; from January 1, 2004, he was head coach there, before moving to Aarhus GF as assistant coach on July 1, 2008 . With Kolding he rose to the second division in 2005 .

National team

On April 26, 1988, the 19-year-old made his debut in the U-21 national team in a 2-1 win in Tulln against the U-21s of Austria . Another five missions under coach Richard Møller Nielsen in the U-21 team in 1988 followed the debut in the senior national team at a tournament in Malta . Against the Maltese team on February 8, 1989 in Ta 'Qali Mølby was substituted on in the 81st minute by Sepp Piontek for Brian Laudrup . By February 1993 he played a total of 16 times for the red-whites, including in qualifying for the 1992 European Championship . In the finals he was part of the squad, but was not used. His last game under the Danebrog he made on February 24, 1993 in Mar del Plata in the Artemio Franchi Cup against Argentina ; on penalties he scored 3-2 for Denmark (final score 5: 6).

Johnny Mølby is a cousin of Jan Mølby , who was also a Danish international.
