Erich Kaniber

Erich Kaniber (born January 29, 1934 ) is a former German soccer player who played 41 appearances in the Oberliga Süd as a player for VfB Stuttgart between 1957 and 1960 .

career

Clubs until 1961

In the round of 1954/55, the defender Erich Kaniber and his club Würzburger Kickers took second place in the 1st Amateur League North Bavaria, behind the champions and promoted to the 2nd South League , VfB Helmbrechts . After the 1955/56 season he moved to the Oberliga Süd for VfB Stuttgart. After a year suspension, Kaniber was in the 1957/58 round with 26 missions and one hit in the regular line-up of coach Georg Wurzer's team. In the 1958 Cup he was on the pitch for VfB in the southern German competition in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final. On June 25, 1958, Stuttgart and right defender Kaniber won the title of South German Cup winners in Mannheim with a 2-1 win against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 . In the victorious final of the DFB Cup on November 16, 1958 in Kassel against Fortuna Düsseldorf , the ex-Würzburg was not part of the VfB team. In the two rounds of 1958/59 and 1959/60, the defensive player plagued by injuries was only able to play 15 league games for the Stuttgart team. In the summer of 1961 he ended his contract playing career, returned to the amateur camp and moved to Berchtesgaden.

Selection appointments, 1954 to 1956

In the 1954/55 season Kaniber was appointed to the Bavarian team. With the association selection, the right defender from Würzburg won the final game in the national cup of amateurs in Augsburg in 1955 with 5-2 goals against Westphalia. This brought the defensive talent into the field of vision of national coach Sepp Herberger . On September 14, 1955, the national coach changed the defender at the international match of the junior national team U 23 in Zurich against Switzerland for the first time in a game for a DFB team. Willi Schröder from Bremen contributed three goals to the 6: 3 victory of the DFB Juniors. Two months later, on November 12th, Kaniber made his debut in London in the German national soccer team of amateurs . Before goalkeeper Manfred Eglin , he and Alfred Post formed the German defenders in the 3-2 win against England. For the training games of the senior national team in February and March 1956 against Hamburger SV and Saarland, he was in the squad, but was not used. In the B national team he came on April 21, 1956 in Enschede in the 0-1 defeat against the Netherlands to the train. All DFB appointments were made by Erich Kaniber as an amateur player for the Würzburger Kickers. After moving to VfB Stuttgart, he was unable to continue his international career.
