The VfB Helmbrechts is a sports club from the Upper Franconian town of Helmbrechts .
history
It was founded in 1921. The most successful period of the football team began the championship of the Bavarian League and the rise in the II. Division South 1955. In this league, in the personalize it right in the first season to two league matches against for one year FC Bayern Munich , who had been relegated from the league , was able to hold out until 1963, then the league reform with the introduction of the Bundesliga and regional leagues led to the downgrading to the Bayernliga. The best place in the II. Division was 4th place in the 1959/60 season. VfB then belonged to the Bayernliga from 1963 to 1971, 1979 to 1983, 1989 to 1991 and 1993 to 1997.
After the association filed for bankruptcy in 1998, it was renamed VfB Helmbrechts 98 e. V. newly founded. This time the youth should be promoted more. After starting the A-Class Hof again, a series of successes began. Although savings were made and the youth were bet, both senior teams were often promoted and played an important role in the Upper Franconian regional league and the Hof regional league in the 2005/06 season. The club has around 250 members in the soccer field.
From 2005 to 2011, VfB was part of the junior development association (JFG) Selbitztal 05 e. V. involved.
