history

It was founded in 1914 by two or three students who wanted to bring football to the town of Selbitz in the Franconian Forest . In the same year, the first official game against FC Helmbrechts took place, the result is no longer known.

After decades in lower-class football, the SpVgg rose to the Upper Franconian regional league in 2001 . Four years later, he was promoted to the Bayern Nord regional league for the first time . In the 2010/11 season, the relegation games to the Bayernliga were achieved as runner- up, but TSV Gersthofen prevailed. In the following season, the club secured promotion five game days before the end of the season and qualified for the relegation to the Bavarian regional league . There the game association was eliminated against the Würzburger FV and thus played in the fifth-class Bayernliga in the 2012/13 season . In the 2013/14 season , only the relegation was achieved, with the SpVgg defeated in comparison with FC Viktoria Kahl and relegated to the state league.
