Bavaria
In Bavaria, seven district leagues were introduced as the sixth division in 1988; from 2008 after the introduction of the third division , the district upper league was in seventh division. Each district league comprised the areas of the administrative districts of the same name with minor deviations . The next higher division formed the national leagues. The seven district top leagues were:
- District Oberliga Oberbayern
- District upper league Middle Franconia
- District Oberliga Niederbayern
- District Oberliga Oberfranken
- District Oberliga Oberpfalz
- District Oberliga Swabia
- District Oberliga Lower Franconia
The sub-structure of the district upper leagues was formed by the district leagues, which are divided into two or three seasons in each administrative district.
2011/2012 was the last regional league season in the men's division in Bavaria, after which it was canceled there. Since the league reform, there have been two Bavarian leagues , five of which are regional leagues , followed by 15 district leagues . In the youth area, the district upper leagues continue to exist and represent the top division in the D youth area.
Hesse
The district upper leagues (1994-2008) and group leagues (since 2008) were initially divided into 9, later into 8 seasons, with the districts of Kassel (seasons 1 and 2), Frankfurt (seasons West and East) two each, the districts Fulda, Darmstadt and Wiesbaden each provide a relay. The regional league Gießen / Marburg was initially divided into two seasons (north and south), which were later combined.
