District League
The district league , district league or district class is in most German sports associations the designation for regional game classes located in the lower area of the German league system . The organizer of the league is regularly the regional or regional association that is subordinate to the national sports association and is responsible for the area of several neighboring districts and cities . Often there is only one of the three league titles in the area of an association. Where several of these divisions exist side by side, the regional league is usually the higher division, while the regional division is usually lower in the league system.

Soccer

After the Second World War, the district league in the soccer league system in Germany was usually the fifth highest division until 1978, for example in the Westphalian state association, located below the Bundesliga , the 2nd Bundesliga , the association league and the state league on the one hand and above the district league on the other. In Hesse the name is group league . The district league was abolished in the Badischer Fußballverband (Baden Football Association), and instead the district league is there. In North Baden, this corresponds to the division level of the district league.
In GDR football , the district league was always the third-highest division from 1963 after the dissolution of the second GDR league and until the summer of 1990, when the regional leagues were introduced in the area of the GDR , which was about to be dissolved . Futsal
The futsal district league is the third highest division in the league system in Germany. Until the regional league was introduced , it was the second highest division in many places.
