The Futsal Regionalliga Süd is currently the highest German league in futsal . It was founded in the 2015/16 season and started with seven teams in its first season. As one of five regional leagues in Germany, it determines the participants in the German Futsal Championship . It is organized by the South German Football Association and includes the federal states of Hesse , Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria .

Season of the Regionalliga Süd

First-class regional league in three seasons

When it was introduced in the 2015/16 season, the Regionalliga Süd, together with the Regionallig Nordost and West, was the highest German division in futsal. It included the federal states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. The champions qualified directly for the quarter-finals of the German Futsal Championship. The runner-up took part in the South German Futsal Cup and was also able to qualify for the German Futsal Championship. A maximum of two teams could be relegated from the Futsal Regionalliga Süd. The North German Football Association and the South-West German Football Association organized qualifying tournaments for participation in the German Futsal Championship.

First-class regional league in four seasons

From the 2017/18 season, the Regionalliga Süd, together with the Regional Leagues North, Northeast and West, will be the top German division in futsal. It includes the federal states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. The master and the runner-up qualify directly for the quarter-finals of the German Futsal Championship. A maximum of two teams can be relegated from the Futsal Regional League South.
