The Southwest Football Regional Association is one of the five regional associations of the German Football Association . He was born on 3. August 1950 as a football Rheinland-Pfalz , founded on 11. July 1956 in football Rheinland-Pfalz-Saar and on 12. July 1958 in Regional Association Football "Southwest" renamed. The association has its seat in Edenkoben . Today the association is an association of the soccer associations Rhineland , Saarland and Southwest . 2,432 football clubs and 502,836 members are organized in it.
history
It was founded as a spin-off from the Süddeutscher Fußball-Verband (SFV) after the originally planned “reunification” with the South on its association day in 1950 failed due to the question of the league system. Before and until 1933 , the associations from the Palatinate and Saarland traditionally had to the south, while those from the Middle Rhine area between Koblenz and Trier belonged to the west. "The southwest" was created as an independent football region within the borders of the former French occupation zone ; until 1950 it also included the southern part. However, the clubs from southern Baden and the Lake Constance area joined the SFV at the association day, so they did not participate in the split. One consequence was that the northern group of the previously two-track Oberliga Südwest continued to play as the sole, single-track Oberliga of the new association. The finals for the zone championship required until 1950 were omitted.
Leagues
The association acts as the host of the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar, the U19, U17 and U15 regional leagues as well as the B-junior regional league Southwest.
