The Rhineland Football Association (FVR) is one of the 21 regional associations of the German Football Association . The seat of the association is the city of Koblenz . The area of the FVR covers northern Rhineland-Palatinate . It extends from the border with North Rhine-Westphalia including the Eifel to the border of Saarland . Included in the association area are the Westerwald and the areas on the left bank of the Rhine up to the Soon-Idar-Wald. Together with the Saarland and Southwest regional associations , the FVR forms the Southwest Football Regional Association .

The FVR has 1,028 clubs with a total of 178,142 members. 3,483 teams take part in the game.

structure

The association is divided into three districts and nine districts:

  • East district
    • District Westerwald / Sieg
    • Westerwald / Wied district
    • District of Rhine / Lahn
  • Mitte district
    • Koblenz district
    • District of Rhine / Ahr

  • West district
    • District of Trier / Saarburg
    • Eifel district
    • Mosel district

Divisions men

The top division is the Rhineland League with 18 teams. The master rises to the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar (up to the 2011/12 season: Oberliga Südwest), there are usually three relegated teams.

The second highest division is the district league, which is played in three seasons of 16 teams according to the districts. The respective champions rise to the Rhineland League. Here, too, there are usually three relegated teams per season.

The league operations in the individual districts take place below this. The top divisions within the districts are the district leagues A with 14 teams, including the district leagues B and C as well as in all districts except Hunsrück / Mosel and Mosel district leagues D. The number of relays and teams per season of the district leagues B to D varies from Circle to circle.

Divisions women

The top division is the Rhineland League with twelve teams. The master rises to the Regionalliga Südwest.

Among them, there are three district league seasons as the lowest division to date, which are divided into West, Middle and East according to geographical conditions.

However, since women's football is also experiencing an upswing in the Rhineland, especially among junior women, it is likely that the number of women's teams will increase visibly in the near future.
