Walter Desch

Walter Desch (born October 9, 1944 in Bad Neustadt an der Saale ) is a German sports official and has been a board member of the German Football Association since 2004 . He was an officer in the Bundeswehr .

Education and professional career

Walter Desch began after graduating from high school in 1964 at the Humanities College in Aschaffenburg studying music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main (2 semesters, cello and piano).

Desch joined the Bundeswehr as a temporary soldier in 1965 . In 1969 he became a professional soldier and was deployed at various locations . Most recently, from February 1, 1994 until his retirement on March 31, 2002, he was in charge of the Information Technology Center of the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Bonn.

Walter Desch has been retired since April 1, 2002 and is therefore a senior lieutenant colonel . D.

Functions in sport

Walter Desch has been an active table tennis player since he was thirteen. In his home town of Alterkülz, he was chairman of the Oberkülztal game association from 1975 to 2001 .

He has been an FVR football referee since 1969. Desch was a referee trainee, ten years member of the referee committee, sports judge as assessor and single judge youth (1976–1982), chairman of the district court center in Koblenz (1982–1986), soccer district chairman of the Hunsrück-Mosel district (1986–2001) and deputy chairman of the Rhineland soccer association (FVR) (1992-2001). Since 2001, Walter Desch has succeeded Theo Zwanziger as President of the Rhineland Football Association and Vice President of the Southwest Regional Football Association.

Walter Desch is married, has three grown children and has lived in Alterkülz in the Hunsrück since 1975 .
