The Fritz Walter Foundation is a foundation under civil law with legal capacity to promote outstanding sporting and social initiatives, in particular by non-profit organizations that are active in sport. It was named after the footballer Fritz Walter .

The foundation was established on June 2, 1999 by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate , the German Football Association , the sports association of the German Football Association and 1. FC Kaiserslautern with a capital of one million German marks in Mainz . The board of trustees must include six people from public life and six people from sport. aims

The funding should particularly concern the youth sector and provide important impulses for sport, promote the social integration of young people, enable research projects in line with the purpose of the foundation and enable them to receive scholarships.
