The Schleswig-Holstein Football Association (SHFV) was founded on August 30, 1947 and is today one of the 21 regional associations of the DFB . Its actual area is smaller than that of the state of the same name. The SHFV is the umbrella organization of currently 557 football clubs in Schleswig-Holstein with 172,040 members and 4,463 teams. The numbers show hardly any change compared to the previous year. In the men's area, especially in the northern districts, there are numerous syndicates that have formed smaller clubs with each other. The association itself is a registered association and a member of the NFV . He also runs the Uwe Seeler Football Park in Malente-Gremsmühlen (formerly "Association Sports School Malente").

The SHFV is based in Kiel . At the head of the association is Uwe Döring as president. His predecessors Hans-Ludwig Meyer , Erdmann Fischer and Peter Ehlers († 2017) are honorary presidents of the association. As part of a structural reform, the management structure changed on July 1, 2017. Instead of the previous two vice-presidents, the top management of the association now comprises a total of six vice-presidents. In addition to Uwe Döring as SHFV President, Hendrik Bünzen (Vice President Qualification and Social Affairs), Wolfgang Liethmann (Vice President Finance), Sabine Mammitzsch (Vice President Game Operations), Helmut Johannsson (Vice President for Future Development) and Tobias Fischer (Vice President for Youth Affairs) form the executive committee of the SHFV.

The association area was divided into 14 districts up to 2012, which largely corresponded to the political circles of the state of Schleswig-Holstein: The four independent cities of Kiel , Lübeck , Neumünster and Flensburg formed - in some cases with local football clubs - also each formed a district football association as did the districts of North Friesland , Schleswig , Rendsburg-Eckernförde , Plön , Dithmarschen , Steinburg , Segeberg , Ostholstein , Stormarn and the Duchy of Lauenburg . In contrast, the clubs from the Pinneberg district traditionally belong to the Hamburg Football Association , which also has numerous member clubs in the southern parts of Stormarn (e.g. Voran Ohe ), Lauenburg (e.g. TuS Dassendorf ) and Segeberg (e.g. Eintracht Norderstedt ) has.

The level of the four districts (east, north, west, south), which existed until June 30, 2008, had been deleted without replacement as part of a structural reform at the time.

In the summer of 2012, the district associations of Flensburg and Schleswig merged with one another, so that the SHFV was still divided into 13 districts. On July 1, 2017, Dithmarschen and Steinburg merged to form the West Coast KFV, which reduced the number of district associations to 12. Most recently, the district football associations of Neumünster and Plön merged and have formed the joint Holstein district since July 1, 2019.

history

An association Kieler Ballspiel-Vereine was formed in 1903. Two years later it merged with five others to form the North German Football Association and became the Holstein district within the same. From 1907 there was also a district of Schleswig - emerged from the previously independent Schleswig-Holstein Football Association from 1906 - and from 1910 a district of Lübeck , which was later merged with Mecklenburg-Schwerin . Since the clubs from Altona, Wandsbek and the surrounding areas played at Hamburg from the start and those from North Schleswig stayed away from the NFV, Schleswig-Holstein was - in contrast to the political and historical preamble - by no means "ungodly" in football.

It was not until 1921/22 that clubs from both parts of the country played together for the first time in the northern district of the six-track regional league. As part of the NFV structural reform in 1922, the district (later district) Schleswig-Holstein was created ; the highest league was initially called the Northern District League , from 1923 (two-track) Schleswig-Holstein District League and from 1929 to 1933 Upper League Schleswig-Holstein . The district initially remained unchanged in terms of its area even after 1933 . However, it now belonged to the Gau Nordmark (the NFV was dissolved) and, like the other two districts, was completely dissolved in 1936. Most recently, the clubs from Lübeck and the surrounding area had also listened to him, although they were still linked to Mecklenburg in terms of playing technology until 1937.

In the same year, the Greater Hamburg Law was passed , which also had an indirect effect on football: Now the clubs from southern Stormarn and Lauenburg as well as from the remainder of the Pinneberg district, which played in Hamburg's leagues, had to retire there and were - how also Lübeck - incorporated into the Schleswig-Holstein league structure. In November 1937, however, seven clubs were allowed to return to Hamburg and at the end of the season the entire measure was withdrawn. Holsatia Elmshorn had played in the district class of Schleswig-Holstein in 1937/38 on the basis of that order.

After the dissolution of the Nordmark sports area, there was the Schleswig-Holstein sports district from 1942 until the end of the war (which corresponded to the former district including Lübeck) with the Schleswig-Holstein district class . The British military government then licensed the Landessportverband Schleswig-Holstein e. V. , from whose football division the SHFV emerged.

On April 27, 2020, as a consequence of the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic , the SHFV decided with a large majority not to extend the current season beyond June 30, but to de facto cancel it. About the evaluation of the championship games played and promotion and relegation is in May d. J. has been decided in such a way that the climbers are determined by quota regulation and no sporting descent takes place.

League system

The top league in the SHFV - the 5th from the top - was called the Schleswig-Holstein League until summer 2017 and before that the Schleswig-Holstein Association League . There were four association leagues (north-west, north-east, south-west, south-east). The 3rd (from the top: 7th) league was the district league. After the merger to form the new KFV Schleswig-Flensburg, eleven football districts each had their own district leagues, the districts of Dithmarschen and Steinburg together formed a district league (until 2011, Lübeck and Lauenburg also did this, and from 2014/15 also Lauenburg and Stormarn), so it was the last there were a total of eleven regional leagues

The leaner structure only existed since July 1, 2008. The dissolution of the districts was accompanied by a game class reform in that year. The previous four district leagues became four association leagues . At the same time, the clubs in the Neumünster, Segeberg and Dithmarschen districts - insofar as they played at this level - moved to another area. Neumünster (until now District East) and Segeberg (until now District South) now formed the South-West relay with Steinburg (until now District West). Dithmarschen (previously District West) formed the North-West relay with the previous District North. The district leagues (until 2008 the 7th league) were dissolved, so that the district leagues were upgraded.

On July 1, 2017, another division reform took place. The Schleswig-Holstein League was renamed to the Flens Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein in line with the national league structure and, like all other classes in the association area, reduced to 16 teams. Below this there is now the Schleswig State League and the Holstein State League . From 1968 to 1999 national leagues had already formed the substructure of the highest national class. The four association leagues north-west, north-east, south-west and south-east remain and now form the seventh-highest division. This is followed by 8 instead of 11 circular leagues. The principle of "flexible game operation" applies to all of these game classes, in which the district boundaries for relay divisions are broken down and the "sliding scale" is largely overridden. The ninth highest division is followed by 12 district classes A with 14 teams each, further district classes B, C, D are set up locally as required.

The Schleswig-Holstein State Cup, which was first held in 1954, is called the SHFV-Pokal (SHFV-Lotto-Pokal). Since 1999, the association has been holding an official indoor soccer championship with the SHFV Indoor Masters competition .
