The SHFV-Pokal (SHFV-LOTTO-Pokal) is the association cup of the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association . The winner of the SHFV Cup has automatically qualified for the DFB Cup since 1974 . If the winner has already qualified for the DFB Cup through the league, the defeated finalist moves up.
Qualification and game mode
The teams of the 3rd division and the Regionalliga Nord are automatically qualified for the SHFV-Pokal . The 14 district cup winners of the previous year also qualify.
The 14 district cup winners from:
Flensburg, North Frisia, Schleswig, Dithmarschen, Kiel, Plön, Rendsburg-Eckernförde, Steinburg, Segeberg, Neumünster, Duchy-Lauenburg, Lübeck, Ostholstein and Stormarn.
Furthermore, from the 2019/20 season the cup winners of the " Flens Cup - Masters of Masters " from the previous year will qualify .
The SHFV Cup is played over four rounds in the knockout system , if more than 16 teams are qualified, an additional qualifying round is carried out. The respective pairings are determined by lottery, whereby a clash of teams above the Schleswig-Holstein League is only possible in the quarter-finals. Each team has only one game per round, which is extended after 90 minutes in the event of a tie and, if necessary, decided in a penalty shoot-out.
Since 2013, the cup finals have usually been played in Lübeck on the Lohmühle . If Holstein Kiel , but not VfB Lübeck , reaches the final, this takes place automatically in the Holstein Stadium . An exception to this was the final of the 2017/18 season , when neither VfB Lübeck nor Holstein Kiel could qualify for the final, whereupon it was decided to stop the game due to the final participation of SC Weiche Flensburg 08 in the Manfred Werner Stadium in Flensburg to carry out. In the 2019/20 season, despite VfB Lübeck's participation in the final, the final was not played on the Lohmühle, but in the Uwe Seeler Football Park in Malente in order to be able to comply with the strict corona-related requirements.
