The Rendsburger TSV is a sports club from Rendsburg . The first women's soccer team took part in the final round of the German championship six times and in the DFB Cup twice. The first men's soccer team took part in the DFB Cup twice and played in the highest amateur league in Schleswig-Holstein for 27 years .

history

Today's RTSV goes back to the Rendsburger MTV founded in 1859 . A football department was supposed to be founded there in 1906, which was forbidden by the German gymnastics association . As a result, Rendsburger FC was founded on March 1, 1908 , which took the name Rendsburger SV after the First World War . On February 18, 1930, Rendsburger SV merged with VfB Rendsburg to form Rendsburger BV . On September 21, 1936, MTV and RBV finally merged to form today's Rendsburger TSV.

Women's soccer

The RTSV soccer players took part in the final round of the German championship six times between 1977 and 1983. In 1977 , 1979 and 1983 the team reached the quarter-finals and failed there at NSG Oberst Schiel , KBC Duisburg and SC 07 Bad Neuenahr . In the DFB Cup round 1981/82 , the Rendsburg women reached the quarter-finals. As early as the early 1980s, the team lost its supremacy in Schleswig-Holstein and in 1986 missed the newly created Oberliga Nord . The team currently played in the district A West .

Men's soccer

Under the names Rendsburger SV and Rendsburger BV, the footballers played in the top division for four years between 1927 and 1933. In 1933 the team was not included in the newly created Gauliga Nordmark . In 1949 the RTSV was one of the founding members of the district class East , where they mostly played in the top group, but always remained far away from the promotion places. After the team failed in the promotion round in 1962 and 1964, they finally made their first jump to the top division in the country in 1968.

In 1971, the RTSV secured the championship and moved into the promotion round to the Regionalliga Nord . There, the Rendsburg team took second place behind OSV Hannover , against which both games were lost. A year later, the RTSV defended the national championship title, remained in the promotion round against VfB Oldenburg , Concordia Hamburg and Prussia Hameln without winning points. In 1974, the Rendsburger missed qualifying for the newly created Oberliga Nord as fourth . Two years later, the team reached the promotion round and only finished last.

In 1977, the RTSV won the SHFV Cup for the first time and lost to VfL Osnabrück 0-2 in the first round of the DFB Cup . Three years later, the team missed another promotion round participation only because of the poor goal difference compared to Eutin 08 . At their second appearance in the DFB Cup in 1981, the RTSV was on the verge of a surprise when the team scored 1-1 after extra time against the North Rhine-Oberligist SC Viktoria Köln . The Cologne team prevailed in the replay. In the same season, the RTSV rose from the association league .

In the mid-1980s, the club made a name for itself with its youth teams. In 1983 the B-Jugend became national champions and failed at the national level in the quarter-finals at Bayer 04 Leverkusen . Two years later the A-youth became national champion and failed in the first round of the German championship to the Reinickendorfer Füchsen . After the young players moved up into the first team, they were promoted back to the association league in 1987. After the direct relegation in 1989 after playoffs against Alemannia Wilster, the return to the Schleswig-Holstein upper house, where in 1993 fourth place was achieved.

A year later, the RTSV missed the newly created Oberliga Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein by one point. In 1999 the team was relegated again from the association league and returned three years later after a 4-1 win in the playoff against Suchsdorfer SV . In 2004 it went back to the regional league east , before the RTSV qualified four years later for the newly created sixth class association league north-east . After another league reform, the team played in the seventh-class Verbandsliga West in 2017/18 , from which they were relegated at the end of the season. In the 2018/19 season, the team occupied 15th place in the Nord-Ost district league and was relegated to the district class.

With Bastian Henning , Andrew Pfennig and Gerd Schwidrowski, the RTSV produced three future professional players. Pfennig also trained the women of Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga for four years . Conversely, the ex-professional Thomas Ritter let his career end in Rendsburg.

With Heinrich Will the RTSV provided a successful javelin thrower . Will became German champion five times and took part in the 1956 Summer Olympics. Will held the German record for throwing a javelin for five years.
