Andrew Pfennig (born January 1, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player who now works as a coach.

Athletic career

Pfennig comes from the youth of Holstein Kiel , where he moved up to the competition team after relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga in 1981 and played in the Oberliga Nord . In 1987 he switched to FC St. Pauli as a contract amateur . Here he came in the following eleven years, which he belonged to the club, mainly in the amateur team. In February 1988 he made his debut in the 3-1 away win at SpVgg Bayreuth in the second-highest division, and by the end of the season he played two more games. Up to an additional professional matches he had to wait a long time in the Bundesliga season 1996/97 he was after fixity of descent in the final two games of the season against VfL Bochum respectively MSV Duisburg in the Bundesliga active. In 1998 he moved to the United States, where he played for the Richmond Kickers in the championship organized by the United Soccer Leagues .

After returning to Germany, Pfennig initially worked as a coach in the youth division at SC Vorwärts-Wacker 04 , and in summer 2001, Hamburger SV signed him for its women's team in the Bundesliga . Although the relegation to the second division was at the end of the season, he reached the final of the DFB Cup with the team . The game in the Olympiastadion Berlin was clearly lost with a 5-0 defeat against 1. FFC Frankfurt . After the direct re-promotion, he managed to stay up twice before they parted ways after four years. Later he took over responsibility as a base coach in the youth work of the DFB .

Pfennig has been working full-time as a physiotherapist since 1993.
