The Kaßlerfelder Ball Sports Club Duisburg 1888 is a German sports club. The club offers soccer and tai-chi . In the 1980s and early 1990s, the now defunct women's football department made the club known nationally and internationally.
history
The association was founded on September 2, 1888. The football-playing men had their wedding in the early 1960s when they briefly reached the district league . In 1970, the club hostess Paula Schmitz founded the women's football department. The first coach was Gregor Grillemeier, father of the later Bundesliga professional of the same name . In 1975 the first Lower Rhine championship was won, and two years later they won the Lower Rhine Cup for the first time. In 1980 KBC reached the final of the German championship, but was defeated by SSG 09 Bergisch Gladbach on their facility with 0: 5. Three years later, KBC won the DFB Cup . Martina Voss , who was 15 at the time, was in the winning team in the 3-0 win against the host FSV Frankfurt .
In 1985 the only championship was brought to Duisburg . In the final, they beat FC Bayern Munich 1-0 on the club grounds of MSV Duisburg with a goal from Anja Klinkowski, who had recently been substituted on. In the same year, the team coached by Jürgen Krust missed the double: The cup final, which was held for the first time in Berlin before the men's final, was lost to FSV Frankfurt 3-4 on penalties . Three years later KBC was in the championship final for the third and last time in Bergisch Gladbach, but was again defeated by the local SSG 4-5 on penalties.
When the Bundesliga was founded in 1990 , KBC was part of it. However, the club's slow decline began at that time. In 1993 the local rival FC Rumeln-Kaldenhausen (merged with MSV Duisburg on January 7, 2014 ) was promoted to the Bundesliga. Just a year later, the changing of the guard was perfect. KBC was relegated from the Bundesliga and disappeared into oblivion. After a few years in the lower leagues, the department was finally dissolved. The remaining athletes, coaches and supervisors joined the sports club Eintracht Duisburg in an independent department .
Today KBC only has men's and boys' football. The first team plays in the district league C.
