List of German champions in javelin throwing
The javelin is one of the competitions that have been on the program at the Olympic Games from the very beginning. The achieved widths increased so much over the years that some sports fields became too small for the competition - Uwe Hohn had improved the world record in 1984 to 104.80 m. So the center of gravity of the spears was moved further forward. As a result, they no longer flew that far. In addition, the distance measurement became easier because a clear impression was made when the launchers landed, which was often not the case before. The changed regulations came into force for men in 1986 and for women in 1999, which explains the reduced widths from these respective dates.
The javelin was first used in the German Athletics Championships for men in 1911. In 1914, 1944 and 1945 there were no German championships due to the war. For women, the discipline came into the program at their third official German championships in 1922.
From 1924 to 1928, the two-armed javelin master was also determined for the men . The distance achieved with the weaker arm was added to the distance of the already scored throw with the better arm.

Individual references and notes
- ↑ a b Nothing further could be determined about the GDR champion of the javelin throw of 1948 and 1949. It may be the successful javelin thrower Luise Krüger . This was u. a. in the javelin German champion 1934 and Olympic runner-up in 1936 as well as German champion in the pentathlon 1942. She comes from Dresden, which could also be an indication of this identity. However, 'Krüger' is not a rare name, even the West German javelin thrower from 1952 and 1954 had this surname before her marriage and, of all things, the first name 'Jutta'. But she is definitely a different person.
