Karen Forkel

Karen Forkel (born September 24, 1970 in Wolfen ) is a former German athlete and Olympic medalist who was one of the world's best javelin throwers in the 1990s . Her greatest international success is the bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona (66.86 m). In addition, the junior world champion and two-time junior European champion won two silver medals at European championships, was runner-up in 1993 and won the German championships in 1996.

On June 23, 1993, she received the Silver Laurel Leaf for her athletic achievements.
