Stephan Steding (born January 29, 1982 in Rinteln ) is a former German javelin thrower .

In 2002 and 2004 he became German Junior Champion, in 2003 he finished fifth at the U23 European Championships. However, injuries prevented him from advancing in sports in the following years.

After winning the title at the German Championships in 2007, he took part in the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, but failed in qualifying. At the 2008 European Winter Throwing Cup, Steding came second. In the summer season 2008 he improved his best performance several times, most recently on June 27th to 83.50 m in Zeulenroda . As Germany's best of the year, he was nominated for the Olympic Games in Beijing .

Stephan Steding is 2.01 m tall and has a competition weight of 106 kg. He started athletics in 1990 at VfL von 1849 Hameln , and has been a member of the Hanover 96 athletics department since 1999 .
