List of German champions in 10 km walking

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 10-km walk has not played a particularly large role in German athletics. The distance of the walking distances in the street has changed again and again in the first decades of the staging of competitions from the end of the 19th century nationally and internationally until the 1950s. For men, the first established route length of 50 kilometers, the length of the second walking distance was then 20 kilometers from the mid-1950s. In Germany , walking over 10 km at the German men's championships was only held in the GDR , from 1950 to 1955 and again in 1987. Later, the competition at German championships took the form of track walking - see list of Germans Master in 10,000 meter track walking .

For women, walking was first included in the program at the German Athletics Championships in 1980 , initially over a distance of 5 kilometers. Later, the length of the route for women walking on the street was changed twice. At the championships of the Federal Republic of Germany , 10 km walking was offered from 1987 to 1990, and then at the all-German championships from 1991 to 1997. Since 1998, the length of the championships in street walking has also been 20 km for women. In the GDR , women champions were determined in the 10 km walk from 1985 to 1989. Later this distance was only twice included in the championship program as a track competition for women - see list of German champions in 10,000-meter track walking .

There was an additional team evaluation at the German championships except for 1995 from 1987 to 1997 for women, when this distance was on the program as street walking for women. In 1990 and 1994 the result remained unofficial as only one team was included in the ranking. The order of the clubs in all years resulted from the addition of the individual times of the best three runners of a club.
