German indoor walking championships
Walking competitions were part of the German Indoor Championships in athletics at different times .
In the Federal Republic of Germany from 1969 to 1975 the competition distance was 10,000 meters, in which only men were allowed to participate. From 1976 to 1989 no German indoor walking championships were held in the FRG . Since 1990 the women's distance has been 3000 meters and that of the men 5000 meters. The competitions took place until 2011 with the German Indoor Championships. They have been outsourced since 2012 and are held as German championships in track walking with the German indoor championships for all-rounders or those for senior citizens.
At the indoor championships from 1964 of the German Association for Athletics (DVfL) of the German Democratic Republic , walking competitions for men were part of the program from the beginning, which followed for women from 1985.
The championships of the A and B youth (U20 and U18 respectively) are organized with the German youth hall championships , except for the years 2012-2014, when they were held at the German championships in indoor railway walking .
