Saskia Feige (born August 13, 1997 in Potsdam ) is a German athlete in the walking discipline .
Career
Middle distance
Saskia Feige started her career as a track and field athlete in several running disciplines. In her youth she specialized in the middle distances of 800 and 1500 meters. With 4: 43.81 min she reached her personal best on June 3, 2012 over 1500 meters in Berlin.
Going by train
In 2015, Saskia Feige took part in an introductory walking training course and immediately switched to walking at SC Potsdam. In the following year she took part successfully in competitions. At the German Championships in 2016 , she started the 5000-meter track and took the runner-up title with 23: 15.47 min.
Street walking
After she started in the youth national team in Rome in 2016 in the U20 in 10-kilometer walking internationally for Germany, she competed in the German championships in 20-kilometer walking in Naumburg on April 23, 2017 . She completed the 20 kilometers in a time of 1:33:23 h and took second place behind Emilia Lehmeyer.
At the German Championships in 2018 , Saskia Feige was German runner-up in the 20-kilometer walk and came in 16th at the European Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2018 . At the German Championships in 2019 , she became German champion in the 20-kilometer walk with a new personal best of 1: 30.40 h, with this performance she even met the international benchmark for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. At the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Saskia Feige was the third best European in the 20-kilometer walk and came 11th.
Life
Saskia Feige passed her Abitur in 2018 with a grade point average of 1.0. In 2018 she began studying bioinformatics and systems biology at the TH Wildau .
