The athletics database is a German database for competition results, leaderboards and athlete statistics. It is the largest German database of its kind, it is operated privately and on a voluntary basis.

history

The website was started on June 1st, 2011 by Christoph Krämer as a hobby project to give as many athletics fans as possible an overview of the leaderboards and athletes. After just 2 months, over 300,000 results were recorded. On April 29, 2012, the one million recorded results mark was exceeded; An app was available for download from the App Store (iOS) since September 5, 2012 ; since October 21, 2012 also in the Google Play Store . The mark of two million recorded results was reached on November 16, 2012, so an average of 3,750 results and approx. 10 competitions have been recorded every day since the site was founded.

The athletics database was closed for the first time on September 29, 2014. The reason given was the lack of time capacity of the developer Christoph Krämer; In the four years since it was founded, the number of visitors had risen steadily (up to 9,500 a day). The website has been accessible again since November 17, 2014, but initially with limited server capacity. On October 16, 2017, developer Christoph Krämer announced that he would withdraw completely from the small database team at the end of the year.

Stephan Schönberg has been running the website since January 1, 2018.

offer

The athletics website collects competition results from all over Germany as well as from important international competitions. With the available data, leaderboards can be created; Results and top performances of an athlete are each displayed on a separate page. Results lists in HTML format as well as BLN and PDF files from the three major athletics programs (COSA, Seltec, Rieping) can be imported automatically. Other formats must first be entered manually.
