Max Horlacher

Max Horlacher (* 1931 in Fricktal ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and designer of electric vehicles . He also developed a light aircraft powered only by muscle power .

Life

The Horlacher Sport drove 547 km on one battery charge in 1992 and has been on Swiss roads since 1991.

As a young boy, Horlacher came into contact with automobiles and airplanes. His godfather Paul Horlacher was a partner in the body shop Gangloff in Colmar , Alsace , where he was able to do an internship after training as a ceramic painter .

1962 founded Horlacher in Möhlin the Max Horlacher AG , focusing on the production of lightweight components and panels of reinforced plastic and composite materials, in particular for rail vehicles, specialized.

In 1983 Horlacher fulfilled a childhood dream with the construction of the muscle-powered light aircraft Pelargos .

At the suggestion of the later Federal Councilor Kaspar Villiger , from 1985 onwards numerous prototypes and small series of electric vehicles were produced in the vehicle construction department of Max Horlacher AG , which regularly took top places in their classes in the Tour de Sol solar car race that has been taking place since 1985 .
