Max Horlacher AG
The Max Horlacher AG is a Swiss company in Möhlin , canton of Aargau , which is busy with the production of lightweight components and panels of reinforced plastic and composite materials, in particular for rail vehicles. The company became famous for its electric vehicle projects in the 1980s and 1990s.
history
The company was founded in 1962 by the trained ceramic painter Max Horlacher . First of all, paneling parts for railway wagons were produced, which were installed by Schindler-Waggon AG in nearby Pratteln , among others . Other products were facade parts and plastic furniture.
Horlacher achieved greater fame in 1983 with the construction of the light aircraft Pelargos, which was only powered by muscle power . The vehicle construction department was founded in 1985 to develop the Migros MEV1, an electric vehicle for the Tour de Sol solar rally , which was followed by further prototypes and small series.
