Swiss buggy

Renesco Garagenbetriebe AG , previously Fahrzeugbau AG , was a Swiss automobile manufacturer. The brand names were Swiss Buggy and Fabino .

Company history

René Schmid's Fahrzeugbau AG company began producing automobiles in Otelfingen in 1972 . In 1976 the company was renamed Renesco Garagenbetriebe AG . Production ended in 1979.

Brand name Swiss Buggy

This brand name was used for VW- based buggies between 1972 and 1975 . Open buggy bodies were mounted on the chassis of the VW Beetle , which were shortened by 40 cm to a wheelbase of 2 meters. Air- cooled four - cylinder boxer engines from VW with 1200 cm³, 1300 cm³, 1500 cm³ and 1600 cm³ displacement provided the drive . Problems with VW and the decline in the buggy boom led to the discontinuation of series production in 1975.

Brand name Fabino

The company developed its own chassis in 1974. Both buggy and coupé bodies were mounted on it. Built-in engines from Renault now provided the drive . There was a choice of four-cylinder engines from the Renault 12 and V6 engines from the Renault Alpine A310 .
