Meyer was a Swiss manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company of the brothers Gottfried and Heinrich Meyer from Horgen began producing automobiles in 1884. The brand name was Meyer . Production took place in part of the J. Meyer button factory . The client and buyer of most of the vehicles was the Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate factory . In 1899 production ended after five copies were made.

The brothers made steam cars. The vehicles had a tubular frame. They were tricycles that had a single, small front wheel. The front wheel was steered. The boiler was mounted in the rear of the vehicles. The steam engine drove the rear wheels via chains. The first vehicle offered space for two people. Later versions offered space for three to five people.
