Sergei Viktorovich Chebotaryov ( Russian Сергей Викторович Чеботарев ; born October 14, 1969 in Magdagachi , Amur Oblast , Soviet Union ) is a Russian politician . Since 2018 he has been Minister for North Caucasus Affairs of the Russian Federation .

Life

Chebotaryov graduated from the Ussuriysk Suvorov Military School in 1986 and the Far Eastern Military College for Troop Commanders in 1990. From 1990 to 1998 he served in the border troops . From 1998 to 2004 he held a scientific teaching position at Moscow universities. From 2004 to 2018 he worked in various posts in the administrative apparatus of the President of the Russian Federation. From 2006 he was division manager in the presidential administration for interregional and cultural connections with other countries. In June 2012 he was promoted to deputy head of administration. He managed the development and expansion of relations with Armenia , Georgia , Azerbaijan , Abkhazia and South Ossetia . In March 2014, he became a member of an inter-agency commission for the preparation and implementation of international and interregional economic forums. On May 18, 2018, he was appointed Minister for North Caucasus Affairs by order of President Putin .

Chebotaryov is a doctor of law and a lecturer. He is married and has two children.
