Magdagachi ( Russian Магдагачи ) is an urban-type settlement in the Amur Oblast ( Russia ) with 10,897 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located in the north of the Amur extending low mountain range in the Russian Far East , about 370 km (distance) north of Oblasthauptstadt Blagoveshchensk . A river of the same name flows through the place, which later flows into the left Amur tributary Olga .

Magdagatschi is the administrative center of the Magdagatschi Rajons of the same name .

history

The place was created in 1910 in connection with the construction of the Amur railway from Kuenga not far from Sretensk in Transbaikalia to Khabarovsk . The station and settlement were named after the river, and rail traffic on this section began in 1914.

In 1938 urban-type settlement status was given.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are forestry and railway companies in the settlement.

Magdagatschi is a station of the Trans-Siberian Railway (route km 7494 from Moscow ). The R297 Amur road, part of the Trans-Siberian road connection , also passes through the village .

At Magdagatschi there is a small regional airport ( IATA airport code GDG , ICAO code UHBI ), which is currently out of order.
