Uschumun ( Russian Ушумун ) is an urban-type settlement in the Amur Oblast ( Russia ) with 2390 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located between Amur and Zeya extending low mountain range in the Russian Far East , which gradually here to southeast, Seja-Bureya level expires. The place is located about 290 kilometers (as the crow flies) north of the Oblast capital Blagoveschensk .

Uschumun belongs to Magdagachi Rajon , the administrative center of which Magdagachi lies 90 kilometers to the northwest.

history

Ushumun was created in connection with the construction of the Amur railway from Kuenga not far from Sretensk in Transbaikalia to Khabarovsk from 1910, when the later location at the end of a temporary railway line (exact time of the closure unknown) was chosen for the transport of construction material for the line construction, starting from the well A village 40 kilometers away with a ship landing stage on the Amur Chernyayevo.

The importance of train station and location grew with the laying of the second track on the Amur Railway; In 1938 urban-type settlement status was given.

Uschumun has railway operations and construction companies, including a sleeper plant .

Uschumun is a station of the Trans-Siberian Railway (route km 7602 from Moscow ). The M58 Amur road, part of the trans-Siberian road link , also passes nearby.
