LG Offenburg

The LG Offenburg (Athletics Community Offenburg) is an athletics club from Offenburg .

On November 26, 1970, the community emerged from the associations TV von 1848 , Eisenbahnersportverein , Postportverein and DJK Offenburg . After the first three clubs have since merged to form ETSV Offenburg , the community today consists of the founding members ETSV Offenburg and DJK Offenburg as well as the later TuS Rammersweier and TV Ortenberg .

The high jumper Ellen Mundinger won the first German championship title for Offenburg in 1972 ; at the 1972 Olympic Games , Mundinger took tenth place. The high jumper Andreas Surbeck started for the LG Offenburg from 1979 to 1981 before moving to VfL Sindelfingen .

In the 1990s, the 800-meter runner Jörg Haas , the walker Robert Ihly and the 400-meter hurdle runners Ulrike Heinz and Steffen Kolb were successful for the club; the middle distance athlete Kristina da Fonseca-Wollheim started in 1992 and 1993 for the LG Offenburg.

The most successful athlete of the club is the javelin thrower Christina Obergföll with two Olympic silver medals ( 2008 , 2012 ) one gold ( 2013 ) and two silver medals ( 2005 , 2007 ) at world championships and two silver medals ( 2010 , 2012 ) at European championships. Obergföll is four-time German champion and five-time runner-up.

From 2009 to 2011 and 2013, Matthias Bühler became German champion in the 110-meter hurdles and thus second top athlete from LG Offenburg alongside Obergföll.

The gold medalist in the javelin throw at the 2017 World Athletics Championships , Johannes Vetter , also belongs to the LG Offenburg.

At the beginning of May each year, LG Offenburg, together with the City of Offenburg, organizes the Badenova City Run Offenburg over 7.5 km, which was held for the 18th time in 2012.
