Ellen Mundinger

Ellen Mundinger (born January 14, 1955 in Oberkirch (Baden) ) is a former German athlete who was successful as a high jumper in the early 1970s . The 1.77 m tall and 62 kg heavy athlete initially started for LG Offenburg , and from 1975 for USC Mainz .

Mundinger won three German championship titles: 1972 with a jump of 1.82 m outdoors, 1973 and 1974 with heights of 1.79 m and 1.82 m, respectively, indoors. In 1975 she was third at the German Championships behind Ulrike Meyfarth and her teammate Karin Geese .

She took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , where she came in tenth with a jump of 1.82 m. In the following year she mastered the same height at the Junior European Championships in Duisburg in 1973 and won the gold medal in front of Olympic champion Ulrike Meyfarth, who jumped 1.80 m.

She jumped a centimeter higher (1.83 m) in 1974 at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg . With this height it took sixth place.

Mundinger's personal best is 1.89 m, achieved on June 22, 1980 in Göttingen .

Coaching career

After finishing her active career, Ellen Mundinger worked as a teacher at the Lender home school in Sasbach and also as a volunteer trainer for TV 1861 Oberkirch, among others .
