The home school Lender in Sasbach in the Ortenaukreis is a state-recognized, catholic private school of the school foundation of the Archdiocese of Freiburg .
history
The school was founded by the prelate Franz Xaver Lender in 1875 as "Lender's educational institution". The spirit of the school is reflected in the motto above the old entrance on the B 3: Initium sapientiae timor Domini. At that time it was primarily intended to train future seminary students. In 1977 the school had 1,400 students. Today the school is attended by over 1,700 students. The boarding school was closed in 2001. The school includes grammar school , business school , social grammar school and day care center . The former college of St. Pirmin , which was also affiliated with the institute and whose task it was to prepare those who were later called to study theology, was closed in 2016 and the buildings demolished in 2017. After the town of Sasbach, the alumni of the Lender home school are called Altsasbachers.
Educational offer
The school has a particularly broad spectrum of humanistic education with an enormous variety of modern and ancient foreign languages ( Greek , Latin , Hebrew , English , French , Spanish ). The school also has a music train (increased music lessons in grades 5–7 as well as music later from grade 8 as a profile subject). The NwT profile ( science and technology ) has existed since the 2006/2007 school year and the IMP profile ( computer science , mathematics and physics ) since the 2018/19 school year . In addition, there is an extraordinary number of extra-curricular working groups (AG), for example ten music working groups and three different theater groups. Since the 2005/2006 school year, the Lender home school has had another facility with rehearsal and studio rooms for art, music and theater, the Lender cultural center. The Lender home school thus complements the neighboring Achern grammar school , which focuses on art.
Since 1990 the Heimschule Lender has also had a business high school . Its founding and growth is primarily based on the initiative of Director of Studies Manuela Schweer (* March 12, 1960; † November 30, 2008). A social science grammar school was set up for the 2012/2013 school year .
